Partnership announcement: Transverse  partners with Albis Optoelectronics to advance micro-transfer printing of photodiodes

Transverse, the wafer-scale micro-transfer printing (MTP) pilot line, developed by imec and Ghent University, is pleased to announce a partnership with Albis Optoelectronics, a leader in high performance and high reliability photodiodes.

Through this collaboration, the partners are continuously developing and refining MTP processes to integrate Albis photodiodes onto silicon, TFLN and other substrate platforms.

Albis provides known-good-dies of photodiodes compatible with micro-transfer printing and supports the validation of the printed photodiodes’ reliability. The Transverse team optimizes the tethering, release, and printing processes.

Depending on the target application, different types of Albis photodiodes are transfer-printed onto various substrates — ranging from low-noise monitor photodiodes to solutions covering all datacom and telecom wavelengths, supporting speeds up to 400G.

This partnership is accelerating the commercialization of III-V photodiode heterogeneous integration, unlocking transformative possibilities across multiple growth sectors including datacom, quantum technologies, artificial intelligence, and advanced sensing applications.
