About Us
TRANSVERSE is an initiative from the Photonics Research Group from Ghent University and IMEC.
Over the past decades, the Photonics Research Group—an associated lab of IMEC and part of Ghent University—has played a pivotal role in advancing photonics, with a strong focus on silicon photonics and heterogeneous integration. Its activities span from design and technology development to system implementation and application-oriented research.
In the last ten years, the group has expanded its expertise in heterogeneous integration through micro-transfer printing, building an impressive track record in the field. While much of this early research has focused on sample-scale projects, the growing demand for wafer-scale developments has become increasingly evident. Addressing this need, the TRANSVERSE pilot line initiative has been launched to accelerate the adoption of micro-transfer printing technology.
By leveraging the Photonics Research Group’s deep expertise in integrated photonics and micro-transfer printing, along with IMEC’s proven capabilities in driving technology development and adoption in the silicon photonics and IC industries, the TRANSVERSE pilot line stands at the forefront of innovation in this transformative field
This pilot line initiative has also been supported through multiple funded projects/initiatives:
